Though you may visit Pahalgam any time of the year, the period between March to November is the best time to visit Pahalgam as the weather is good for outdoor activities. Summer season is a perfect time for trekking and enjoying the romantic natural beauty. Stay indoor after sunset if possible. If you are an adventure lover and want to enjoy skiing then winter is the best season for you to visit Pahalgam. Heavy woollen clothes with adequate warm accessories are a must during winter time. Keep emergency medicines and a first aid kit along with you.

Getting Around

Rental cars is one way to explore the area. Public buses are available also. Another way to commute within the hilly town is by ponies; however, walking is the easiest and best option.

How To Reach


The nearest airport to Pahalgam is at Srinagar which is 91km away only. Major domestic airlines connect this city with other major metro cities of India on daily basis.


Udhampur Rail head is at a distane of 218 km from Pahalgam, and from there avail hired cars to reach Pahalgam. Alternatively, you may reach Jammu Tawi Rail station, which is at 257 km and then may avail private cars, buses to reach the town. A number of trains from Delhi, Kolkata, Pathankot, Amritsar etc. connect this rail head


The roads around the Kashmir valley are well-connected with all parts of the state. A road from Srinagar via Khanabal and Bijbehera village connects this hill station. Another road from Jammu via Khanabal and Anantnag is connecting this area also. All types of rental cars, shared taxis are available. Excellent bus services including state transport are available in this route.
