People can visit Khandala all throughout the year. Though the best season to visit is during the summers (April to June). The temperature is cool and pleasant with azure sky and you can enjoy a fascinating view of the dusk filled with vibrant colours. Though monsoon season is also a good time to visit because of lush greeneries, heavy showers make it a bit problematic. Cotton clothes are must during summer time. Do not litter the place by depositing plastic and any garbage. Keep emergency medicines and a first aid kit along with you. Try out the popular Vaada Paw, which is the staple food here. You can also get Gujrati and North Indian thalis.

Narayani Dham, Pavna Lake, Tiger point, Lion Point, Karla caves, Tungarli lake, Bhaja caves, Lohagadh fort, Rajmachi fort, Kune waterfalls, Duke’s nose, Korigad fort, Tikona fort, Shooting point, Reversing Station, Rajmachi park, Valvan lake, Bhusi lake, Ryewood park, Tunga fort, Lonavala lake are some of the few surrounding attractions available in this area. There are caves which can be enjoyed easily. Forts offer historic value of this area also. Presently there are some of the adventure activities introduced to fulfill the thirst of the adventure loving population also. Shopaholics can do lot of shopping also.

Getting Around

Hired cars are easily available to getting around this area. Bicycles are available on rent also. But the best way to explore the hilly town is by walking on foot.

How To Reach


There are two major airports near to this hill station. They are Chatrapati Shivaji airport in Mumbai and Lohegaon airport in Pune. They are 90 km and 60 km away respectively. Domestic flights are available on regular basis in Lohegaon airport and Chatrapati Shivaji airport. You can take hired taxis, private cars from the airport to reach Khandala.


Khandala station is the station for Khandala town, with the next station being Lonavala in Lonavala- Khandala route. Most trains plying in between give a halt here.


Lonavala- Khandala is completely connected by motorable roads with all the major southern cities of India. National highway is making this place easily accessible. Public and private buses and hired cars are available from Pune and Mumbai to take the tourists at this place on regular basis.
