An ideal place for a short trip, the best time to visit is from late October to March; as the weather is pleasant and cool and the time is perfect for sightseeing. Breeze from the river makes the evenings cool. Summer is quite hot as mercury soars up to 40°C and though monsoon with heavy showers adds charm to the beautiful landscapes, yet it is not advisable to visit Mayapur during summer or monsoon.

With beautiful and larger than life idols, multiple gorgeous temples, educational institutions, prayer enclosures, the sprawling and beautifully decorated lush green complex is enormous and attractive. The temple is also famous for Govinda Restaurant that offers pure and delicious vegetarian dishes. Yoga Peeth: Located 6 km from the main town, Yoga peeth Temple is actually the birth place of Chaitnya Mahaprabhu. The structure of height 30m is built with white marbles. Srila Prabhupada’s Pushpa Samadhi Mandir: A memorial dedicated to the founder of ISKCON, Srila Prabhupada, the Samadhi Mandir complex has a grand shrine encircled by a museum which portrays the life of Sri Prabhupada. A must visit site for tourists and devotees. Sunset and boat ride: Witnessing the sunset scene while riding a boat on the Ganges is an aesthetically stunning one. The grand view of the many temples and the natural beauty is truly awesome. Further, listening to bhajans and soaking into the divinity is the real charm of Mayapur. Mayapur Market: An ideal place for the shopping lovers, the market at Mayapur remains buzzing with tourists all throughout the day, especially in the morning time.

How To Reach


There is direct road connectivity to Nabadwip from Kolkata. AC and Non-AC buses, private cars and reserved cabs are available from the city. Special buses from Kolkata also take tourists directly to the Mayapur. Usually it takes around 6 hours to reach Mayapur.

Nabadwip: Located very close to Mayapur lies on the western bank of the Ganges. A town in Nadia district, it is the birthplace of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the great Vaishanava saint and a Bhakt of Sri Krishna , who preached His teachings across. Nabadwip is thronged by devotees on the occasion of Birthday celebration of Mahaprabhu on Phalguni Purnima and on other festivals like Dol Yatra, Ras Purnima etc. Sri Chaitnya Math: Founded by the Acharya of the Gaudiya Math and dedicated to Radha Govinda, the Math is located 7km from the main centre of Mayapur. It has four altars that are dedicated to four Vaishnava Acharyas. Chand Kazi’s Samadhi: Located 7 km from the main ISKCON centre, it is the Samadhi of Chand Kazi, who opposed the Harinaam Sankirtan movement. Later, he became an ardent disciple of Sri Chaitanya. Bethuadahari Wildlife Sanctuary: Situated in Nakashipara area in Nadia district, 22 km from Krishnanagar, is a wildlife sanctuary consisting of a varied wildlife like gharials, spotted deer, jackals, porcupines, langurs, different birds. Spread over 67 hectares, it is an attractive spot near Mayapur.
